Comprehend, analyze and evaluate authentic texts from a freshman-level course. (reading)
In class we usually encounter various articles of different topic as part of our curriculum. I always consider them vital for developing my general knowledge as new vocabulary is introduced in each article. Also, I always believed in the utility of these new words and continuously thought they would benefit me not only in my English exams, but also, in building a rigid general knowledge. There is an article in particular that grabbed my attention "The Advantages Of Montessori Schools"; in this article new words were introduced, but unlike other articles I clearly understood the meaning from the first time. Also, I saw the content interesting that I continued reading the whole article to the very end without any pauses; I never knew about the Montessori before! I found the system applied in these schools vital as it gives children the opportunity to experience real life situations. The Montessori schools respect the children minds leaving each one of them to develop at his own pace! This system was far away from the system that once cocooned me; it was depending on theory and using our imagination to figure out things adults tell us.Instead of seeing the actual thing we were kept in the same cocoon with the talented ones held back due to the "slow rate" of others. Also, getting orders repetitively from adults on what to do and what not to do slowed our understanding of the word "Independence"; these orders really made it more difficult for us to get out from our cocoons!
